Ponderings

Thoughts on remembering, becoming, beauty, and the things we notice when we give ourselves time to pause.

October Ponderings

What Happens After Reflection?

Reflection asks us to look back.

Self-awareness asks us to look within.

Growth asks us to do something with what we find.

There is value in remembering.

The people who shaped us. The places that still feel like home. The experiences that changed us. Even the moments we might have chosen differently if we had known then what we know now.

Remembering isn't returning.

We are always learning, changing, becoming.

Perhaps that is why reflection alone isn't quite enough.

We can look back and recognize a pattern. We can understand why we made a choice. We can see more clearly what hurt us, what helped us, what we carried forward without realizing it.

Self-awareness asks something more.

Questions to sit with

What do I see now that I couldn't see then?

What is still true about me?

What have I outgrown?

What deserves to continue?

What might I choose differently now?

Growth doesn't require us to regret who we have been. It asks us to be honest about what we have learned.

Remembering gives us roots. Becoming gives us room to grow.

Maybe remembering who you are is a practice precisely because you are still becoming.

Remember what matters.

Honor what has shaped you.

Stay open to who you are becoming.

You are not becoming worthy.

You are remembering who you are.

Perhaps, somewhere between remembering and becoming, we begin to recognize the possibilities that have been there all along.

Book

Yes to Life: In Spite of Everything

Viktor E. Frankl

“Life asks something of each of us.”

Dearworthy Pondering

Even when life changes us, it does not have to define us. We all experience seasons of disappointment, uncertainty, and loss. Yet beneath those experiences remains something hardship cannot take away: our inherent worth, our capacity to love, and the unique gifts we still have to offer.

Remembering that truth may be one of the quietest ways we can continue saying yes to life.
